Like other Fashionista BARBIES, the flexible limbs on these dolls makes it easier for kids to change the outfits. As well, the interchangeable heads allow kids to swap-up hairstyles to quickly see which doo works best with the outfit. The button release mechanism works well, but did pose some challenge for some of our tseters. Parents like that the boots stayed on the dolls, but found it hard to keep track of the other little accesories.
WHAT THE KIDS SAY
I like her pink hair because I like pink.
Her whole head pops off so I can change the Barbie whenever I want. I like changing the clothes best.
I do like this toy because it's like having 2 Barbie's. I like how they are different and they look different.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
Kierra (F5) and Hailee (F3) both like this Barbie. It is easy for them to push the button and change Barbie heads. The hair barrette for the pink haired Barbie head broke within a minute of play. The dress she came with is a fun sundress that is easy to take on and off and seems durable. The idea is that you can change the outfit she wears based on the different hairstyles of the Barbie heads. My girls didn't seem to care so much about the style of dress the Barbie was wearing in relation to the colour and style of hair....basically anything goes. An interesting concept that the girls seem to like but this is not one of the favourite Barbies. After the first intial plays they never changed the head again.
The Barbie itself is great for changing clothes because of the flexible body parts but the head swapping didn't seem to be much of a big deal for Ava (F3). The mechanism itself works great, a simple push of a button to swap heads. The small accessories tend to go missing pretty quick.
Positives: Similar to other Barbie dolls, interchangeable & can substitute or augment existing dolls & play, little maintenance, easy to put away.
Negatives: Comes with small accessories which do "disappear" (necklaces, shoes), appears to be a tad bit taller than traditional Barbie so it doesn't quite fit into the "Barbie Car", the swapping heads is a novelty that wears off pretty quickly, & the button to press in the back to release the head is a bit difficult to press at times.
It did seem a little odd at first to be "beheading" Barbie, and Meaghan had a little difficulty at first with swapping, but caught on fairly quickly.
The boots actually stay on! - unlike other Barbies that have teeny, tiny shoes that are always coming off and getting lost.
