This Barbie is a collaborative effort with NASA to commemorate the anniversary of the Mars Rover Curiosity landing last August. Lots of room for imaginative plane in a whole new context. Our testing families loved this space Barbie - A few just liked her as a quaility Barbie with bendy knees, but most also embraced the space theme - either for imginative exploring, or as an opportunity to learn more about NASA and space.
WHAT THE KIDS SAY
Her knees bend mummy! I like that the mask fits my other princesses.
" I like pretending to be an Astronaught" "Her helmet is too tricky" " I think Santa should give everyone one of these!" ( we tell her we test toys for Santa so he knows which ones to make...
Astronaut Barbie is my favourite Barbie. She doesn't wear her suit that much. When she is not wearing her suit, I pretend it is her minion (helper).
I love this Barbie. She is so fun to play with. But, her hair always gets stuck in the helmet when I try to put it on and it won't go together.
I like that I can remove the helmet and see Barbie's hair. I like the pink.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
This is a fabulous Barbie! My daughters (F3, F5) are really interested by space so the facts on the back of the box were cool to them and they are loving using the Mars Barbie to explore around our house, blast off and find aliens. Really great outfit and the helmet comes off, it does need some help to go back on, but overall the design has really sparked some new creativity!
Bendable limbs were a great feature appreciated by Chloe (F5) and the unique astronaut suit inspired new story lines for her imaginative play.
Our daughter (nearly 5 years) really enjoyed this doll. The barbie fits into the same clothing as other barbies and has more realistic leg motions. We enjoyed the chance to discuss space and space exploration more with her too.
My 5 year old daughter likes this Barbie. I'm not sure how interested she is in the theme of Mars but she likes the outfit and helmet. She has removed the Mars outfit and is dressing her in multiple other outfits. My daughter has a hard time putting the helmet back on Barbie. I was happily surprised that she was easy to remove from the packaging since Barbies used to be so difficult to remove. Great price for this Barbie.
I was so happy see Zahra (F6) open and enjoy this space explorer Barbie. It's great for her to know that all occupations are open to her. I explained this Barbie was made with the people form NASA and got to explain about that and showed her more in the computer to expand her understanding.
