EDITOR'S REVIEW

Our testers say this is a pretty impressive toy with a clever trick. It took a bit of practice for some, but most of our kiddi testers were able to set up Barbie to get on the horse all by herself. With or without Barbie riding, our testers loved watching the horse walk (works best on non-carpeted floors). A fun toy that also incorporates well into imaginiative play. Great long term play appeal.

I like that it's Barbie which is my favorite toy. When she was riding, she fell off the horse because she didn't have her practice yet. They should add a button on her that says "Giddy up Horsey!" I like Barbies with a button. I want her clothes to have pretend dust all over it.

Wow! I can't believe Barbie can get on the horse all by herself, it's so cool! I wish all my barbies could ride the horse but they can just sit on it and can't pull themselves up. I guess they're not supposed to be horseback riders. I make the horse even prettier when I braid her tail. This is the best barbie ever!

WHAT ADULTS THINK

Silva

Everyone, even adults are pretty impressed by this Barbie and horse. It's pretty cool to see how Barbie can swing herself right onto the horse and then it can walk across the room. Both my kids, F3.5yrs and M20m really enjoy watching the horse as it walks around. At almost 4, my daughter hasn't been able to get Barbie to jump up on the horse without the horse falling over, and I think she's frustrated by that, so she doesn't play with it as much as I thought she would. This is my daughter's first Barbie doll and she really likes to play with her boots and helmet too. The only real issues with this toy, were that the 4 AAA batteries were not included and the horse will only walk on smooth flooring surfaces. The horse walks really well on our hardwood floors, but this wouldn't be a good toy if you have a carpeted house, as the horse falls over when walking on our area rugs.

Everyone was really excited to try out this Barbie and walking horse. It's pretty cool to see how Barbie can swing herself right onto the horse and then it can walk across the room. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, but while it says its for 3+, my 3.5 had a hard time operating the toy at first. The horse would trot along, but would fall at the end. Every single time, even after adjusting the Barbie or the horse, it would still fall over. However, it is cool that the doll can jump on the horse itself.

Unique toy mostly because of the horse which walks when you press a button on it. Can also get Barbie to mount the horse by pressing another button that swings her onto the back of the horse, although it took us some practice to get it to work properly. We were not positioning Barbie properly next to the horse but we eventually figured it out. Horse needs to be on flat ground or else it tips over easily when walking. Even F2 was delighted to watch the horse walk. It is nice that this Barbie has a different career than princess. F4 and F6 love Barbie so they would have been content to just play with the doll. They enjoyed making up stories about her riding her horse. She comes with a helmet and brush which the kids kept removing. It was hard to keep track of these smaller pieces and the brush is a choking hazard if you have littler ones. Need screwdriver to access the battery compartment on the bottom of the horse. Always so many tags to cut off, which attach Barbie to the packaging. There is also a tag behind her head which I tried to cut as close to her scalp as possible but it still left a bit of a sharp point. Overpriced toy.

Overall, this is a neat product combining horse and barbie into one. It was a hit with f5 and f7 especially f7 who has a passion for horses lately. It has neat features like barbie getting onto the horse with a push or a button and walking. F5 and f7 picked up pretty quickly how to get all the actions to work. Horse & riding accessories added to the play value. Only takes 2 AA batteries. The walking sound is distinct but not too loud. Only safety concern is the small accessories for f20m from a choking perspective.

The girls f5 and f7 both loved this horse and barbie. They loved watching it walk across the floor to their doll house and they loved the noises. Most of all, they loved brushing the horses tail and braiding it. They were more interested in the horse walking than in getting barbie to pull herself up on the horse, maybe because it was a lot easier to just get the horse to walk. The toy is exciting, but not perfect! The horse is wobbly and the Barbie has to be placed just so to pull herself up on the horse. The girls f7 and f5 love horses so this toy is a hit. They enjoy brushing and braiding the horses tail. They use other barbie toys along with this one and like to make a barn for it beside their barbie house. They also like making the horse jump over things and doing barrel racing.
