EDITOR'S REVIEW

Great kit with lots of appeal. Out testers loved decorating their own headbads and then wearing them. Only complaint was the glue, which wasn't really strong enough to hold, but the kit works well when substituting your own stronger glue. For the most parts, testers could make these on their own. with some help for the trickier parts.

WHAT THE KIDS SAY

This was great because I made it with so many friends and we had a great time being creative. It was easy to do and everyone had a different hairband. They all looked good and we all put them on for the last day of school. It was great. it took a lot of time to make them but one had a butterfly, one a flower, one just colourful ribbons. I followed the instructions that they provided.

This kit comes with all you need to make 10 pretty and unique headbands. Chloe (F6) found that the glue did not stick as well as we hoped and it took us a couple tries to get things to stick. We made all the headbands together. If these are to be made without adult help, I would suggest 7+. This would be a great kit for a party.

This kit comes with all you need to make 10 pretty and unique headbands. Chloe (F6) decided to make 2 headbands - one for herself and one for her best friend. Chloe (F6) found that the glue did not stick as well as we hoped and it took us a couple tries to get things to stick. We made all the headbands together. She picked out the colour of the bands she wanted and the accessory for the band (using the box for ideas). She decided on bows made out of ribbons for each. Bows turned out to be too tricky for her 6 year old fingers to make, hold, tie and glue with the slippery ribbon so I ended up executing her designs. Her bow has stayed on her band (we did a folded one that created a flat glue surface) and the jewel has stayed glued on also. Unfortunately, the ribbon bow fell off the band she gave her friend when she was wearing it at school. We made a loopy bow for that one and there must not have been enough of a flat surface to adhere to the band. Chloe was disappointed. We have not tried the butterfly, flowers feathers or jewels applied directly to the band. The box suggests using the kit for a birthday party --a great idea for a craft and loot bag item all in one, but if these are to be made without adult help, I would suggest 7+.

This is a great activity if your little girl is into wearing head pieces. My daughter was so diligently working to create masterpieces for her friends for the last day of school. They all like to wear headbands and she used all the materials they had to personalize them for her friends. I had to use my glue to help as I didn't find the one that they provided strong enough. Great activity to do on rainy days or if you have a group of girls over.

They definitely weren't the big hit I thought they would be. The kids (F6 & F8) made a few headbands but quickly got frustrated by how many hands you seemed to need to have to hold the ribbons/glue/feathers or stones at one time to keep them attached. They also needed a bit of help when "wrapping" fabric around the headbands, and we found that the glue provided in the kit doesn't hold very well (for fabric or for jewels) so we have used a hot glue gun for these parts of the craft and they have stayed together quite well (2+ weeks of daily wear). Would make a great birthday gift for someone!

This was a fun activity for my f6 and her f4 sister who sat and tried to copy her. It did require some adult supervision and help tying the bows and with the setup, but I made sure to leave the creativity part to the girls and let them have fun with it. They were very excited about their creations and couldn't wait to wear them out the next day! After a couple of wears the ribbons were peeling off and the accessory bows started falling off and getting lost. I could have probably reinforced them with a stronger fabric glue but by then the novelty has worn off a bit anyways. The headbands were also cute to just wear plain.
