EDITOR'S REVIEW

A great craft idea, and one that is easeily supplemented with your own supplies. A few testers needed help to get started and one tester found the craft a little too challenging, but for the most part, our experienced crafters could work independently and found the craft easy to do and the beads very pretty. In fact, this is one craft they were actually keen to wear! (which, at this age,  is not always the case for many crafts). As a bonus, working with elasticized thread means the bracelet is ealiy slipped on an off - no complicated fastenings to struggle with. And despite concerns about wearing a bracelet of safety pins, our testing parents report it was actually quite safe - there were only two instances where the safety pin opened and no one was hurt, although the beads came off and had to be remade.

WHAT THE KIDS SAY

It looked like it was super complicated, but when I started to make my bracelet I found it really easy. I just needed a bit of help from my mom at the start, then I was able to do it on my own. I like that the string is an elastic and that I don't have to untie it to get it on my arm. The colors are really nice and I like the pictures. I made a simple bracelet at the start and next I can make a more complicated one. This is really fun!

I liked the results of the safety pin bracelets but I did not like that kids could not make them by themselves because there's too many little knots and places to put beads and my Mom had to help me.  Sometimes the bracelet when its done falls apart.

I like it because it is very easy to make and also fun. Sometimes when I finish, the pins open up and I have to put it back together. It's fun to wear and fun to make. The bracelets come out looking really nice. I've made some as presents! I recommend you try these bracelets out!

It was really fun to do because it was easy and the beads were pretty.  The bracelet turns out really nice.  The instructions were easy to follow and the patterns were very pretty.  The only problem was they didn't tell us which way to put the strings through the safety pins and we put them on backwards.

WHAT ADULTS THINK

I don't feel this craft is suitable for a child under 10 years old for several reasons.  My

daughter wanted to start with the peace sign bracelet.  The instructions were

complicated and she needed my assistance.  At one point, you have to thread the

cord back through the beads a second time.  Even with me helping, this was next to

impossible and very frustrating.  After finally completing the design (which did not look

like the picture), my daughter wore it for a few hours until we noticed the safety pins

had opened and some of the beads had fallen off.  The sharp end of the safety pin

also posed a risk to my daughter and anyone else near her.  Many of the other

designs were a bit easier however still required parental assistance.  On a good note,

the included beads were lovely and the thread was strong but overall not a craft I would

recommend.

We have made quite a few of the bracelets, and Mia has worn them often.  None of the safety pins opened up.  One of her friends did not believe she actually made them as they looked too complicated, Mia had to show her the book!  Needless to say she was very impressed.

This craft works and ends up actually looking like the pictures!  The kids had a lot of fun

making the bracelets and they said they would actually wear them (which isn't always

the case with crafts).  The instructions were well laid out and easy to follow and the book

had a lot of different patterns.

This set is great! I loved that I gave it to Matana (F9) and she disappeared for a couple hours and came back with a few beautiful bracelets. I didn't need to help with anything- the instructions were obviously very clear and the craft was easy to do and she loved it! There were a few designs and she had fun trying them all out and making bracelets as gifts for people. Another excellent Klutz kit!
