Play Tested Review
Enjoy chess? This game adds mirrors and laser beams for an intriguing and innovative new twist. Players still need to plan several moves ahead, but with such restricted piece movement - one square per move (like the classic king piece) – the dynamic action in this game revolves around the laser beam and how even the subtlest piece movement can have a dramatic effect on its path. If the red dot shines on a piece (except the blocker shield), it is removed from play. Careful not to hit your own piece! As in the classic game, the goal is to take out your opponent’s king.
WHAT THE KIDS SAY
This is such a cool game!! I want to buy it! It was a little complicated at first but now I’m getting good. I love to play at night against my dad and we dim all the lights, so we can see the laser very well. The laser is awesome, and I even use it with my cat. He goes nuts. I love this game.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
Excellent. We love the laser and the way the board is decorated is very attractive. Instructions are good, you just follow the designs in the manual and you are good to go! A little complicated at first but once you understand its easy. A good thinking game for kids age 8 and up. My son, who also loves lasers, had a lot of fun playing this head to head game vs his dad. Overall its a great strategy game.
The Beam Directing Strategy Game. Laser Chess is a two-player strategy game that combines the spatial thinking skills of chess with the high-tech fun of laser beams. Players alternate turns moving their mirrored pieces around the board, and at the end of each turn, players fire a real laser. The beam bounces from mirror to mirror, and if the beam strikes a non-mirrored surface of any piece, it is immediately removed from play. If you illuminate your opponent’s king – YOU WIN!
