WHAT THE KIDS SAY
I like that this comes with all the Lego pieces you need so you don't have to worry if you are missing one of the pieces. The instructions were easy to follow to make the different things. I wish that there were more then 11 things you could build and 2 of the builds were almost identical (The Fan Club and the Micro Movie Maker). The Mix Master 3000 and the Fly Wheel Cruiser worked really well but the Micro Movie maker was hard to see the movie and the Gravity Drop Coaster didn't work as expected. I liked that there was extra information about each item besides just how to build it. I also liked that there were paper pieces that you could add to the Lego. The paper pieces were easy to put together and didn't rip. Since it's in a binder (wire coil style binding) it was easy to stay on the page you wanted when you were building.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
My kids (f8, M11) love Lego so I was eager to test this craft. My 11 year old son was able to do the builds completely independently. I like that it includes all of the Lego pieces that you will need rather then relying on you having certain pieces. It's a handy book and the Lego stores easily in the side viewing pocket. It was interesting that it combined cardboard pieces with the Lego. Some of the projects that worked the best were the claw, the mix master and the catapult. Some of them didn't work as well like the movie maker or the gravity drop coaster. Some of the builds were very similar to each other such as the spin o vision and the micro movie maker. I wish there had been even more builds with more pieces. The instructions were easy to follow and it was great that there was additional info behind each gadget for additional learning. I liked that the book had rings so you didn't have to worry about the book suddenly closing on you. It was fun to go through the builds and when you are done you still have the Lego pieces to build your own inventions or combine with your existing Lego.
