WHAT THE KIDS SAY
The bracelets were complicated to make and I wish it came with brighter colored string.
I like spinning the yarn, but I couldn't do the end by myself so my mom helped. My 1st bracelet was too short, we wasted nice coloured thread. The other was too long so my sister put it on her ankle, but the knots let go and it wasn't any good. I finally made a good bracelet after, but not exactly the colours I wanted, since I had wasted them. But still it looked nice.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
This was a very cool craft to do. The results were very close to what was on the box. The kits comes with a large amount of threads. We were able to make 12 bracelets (they were the thinner ones) and we still had a bit of thread left over to make about 2. This is definately a craft for older kids. Even my 10 year old had a bit of trouble at first understanding how to work it. Younger kids can do this craft but they will need adult help. The instructions are fairly good, but we did find it hard to understand some of the knot tying instructions. Luckily this company has 2 very good videos on Youtube (I love the music) that show you exactly how to do the knots and the 6 different bracelets. The floss (the embrodiary thread) that comes with the kits is of medium quality. We did have a bit of tangling issues and some of the thread separated, but none of this effected the outcome of the product. The looper comes with a drawer in the bottom for storing the thread. I just wished that the drawer didn't have a seperator in it so we could have stored the instruction manual in there as well.
I think I had more fun with this than Jill (9) did! Once we figured out the instructions (thanks to YouTube videos) it was fairly easy to make the simple designes.
The loopdeloo spinner does work fine, but it takes practice and patience. Geneviève (F13) understood the instructions and made herself an ankle bracelet that after one month she was still wearing. Mia (F10) has had a hard time, as she found it confusing. She made two bracelets, the first one unravelled because we had a hard time figuring out how to make the ends hold up. I ended making a bunch of knots. There are videos to help you out, but I still had problems with the knots at the end, and we wasted some of the thread by cutting things too short.
Design your own friendship bracelets then make them in minutes with the new Loopdedoo™ spinning tool. It's fast, easy and fun. Just wrap your threads around the Loopdedoo device, turn the knob, guide the thread and minutes later you’re done! You can even make necklaces, anklets, belts and more. There's no pattern to follow so each accessory is completely different and unique, just like you and your friends. You can use as many threads and color combinations as you like and you can make them thick, thin or anywhere in between. The design possibilities are endless, so let your creativity be your guide.
