One of the best NERF blasters ever! Our testers were particularly excited by the strap - both practical and cool - as well as the large 24 dart drum capacity that offers longer play time before the need to reload. And for bonus fun... the darts shoot really fast and far.

It shoots lots of bullets really far, really fast. It was great for doing battles. I like that you can store lots of bullets and that it shoots really fast. There are lots of protection features like if you open the latch to put the bullets back in then the guns turns off. My friends also thought the gun was really cool and they wished they had one. We played blocking the bullets with light sabers, shooting down bowling pins, and just seeing how far it could shoot. It sometimes jams and sometimes the bullets are hard to find but it mostly works really well.

I have been wanting Nerf to make this for years. I like how they fit so many darts but it's still not too big. You can use it a long time before it runs out of darts. So when we had lots of kids over to try it everyone had a long turn and then we would switch. It works well everywhere. In the house or outside, it is just good. Oh and the strap is good because the nerf is a bit long and we like to run around with it so with the strap we can do that. It is just bigger and better than the other nerf ones and the shape is unique. It is not just bigger, the barrel makes it different.

AWESOME! There is nothing they can do to make it better! I like that the darts are not hard, I kind of thought they might hurt but they come out fast but not too fast. It is really big but the strap is there so it is not too big to carry. The best thing is there is so many darts and you can load them all and then you do not have to reload for awhile, except we do because we can't stop playing with it. I could test it for the whole day. Ian (M8.

This toy is too large and heavy (and dangerous) for my 8 year old son. It feels too powerful to be classified as a toy. And interest did dwindle because of the sheer size, weight and power of this toy. Initially, our son was very excited to open this toy; we managed to find 6 D batteries in our house (!)... and he enjoyed trying it out and had fun aiming at a fixed target on the wall and getting used to how it works. It is quite large and suitable for outside mostly. He is quite excited about nerf guns in general, and this one is very large and powerful. He likes the body strap and the thrill of the toy. But he quickly found he could not carry it or operate it off the ground. It was just too heavy! Yes, this toy is very powerful, and did hurt when shot at a person. This is best for outside use and with rules about where one can and can not shoot. I would not recommend children who are aggressive be given this toy. The skill and age required to use this is likely a 12 year old or so. I don't think younger children should play with it and is should only be used outside with boys about the same age. I don't like toy guns. But functionally there is nothing wrong with this toy. It s quite rugged and nothing looks like it would break aside from the nerf pellets.

My son (9) has really enjoyed this toy. Normally it's hard to find toys that interest him more then video games, especially when he has friends over. He and his friends had a blast with this toy. They used it to shoot the wall, shoot over bowling pins, battle with light sabers and see if they could throw things and shoot them. He played with it whenever he had someone over, but didn't tend to use it when there was no friends. This toy was one he was excited to show his friends and his friends were excited to use. The 6D batteries are not common so we did have to go out specially to buy them. The bullets go really far but are soft so they don't hurt. The bullets go back in the gun really easily and the gun has a good shoulder strap to carry the gun around. The gun did sometimes jam but it was easy to fix. The bullets are well made and the only concern with them is that you might loose some. We did have trouble with loosing bullets but we eventually we found most of them. It would be great if it came with a few extra bullets. The gun works really well and shoots very far and very fast. I really like that this toy was exciting enough to have my son want to show it off to his friends and that they spent a long time playing with it instead of always defaulting to video games. It gave them excercise and they had fun. The gun would jam sometimes and one of the bullets got stuck and I had to take the gun apart to get it back. The glue holding the bullet to the tip fell off for 2 of the bullets but I used superglue to fix them. The safety features were well made and the shoulder belt was helpful since the gun can be heavy. I realize some parents don't like weapons but the are other ways that the kids played with it. When it's hard for most toys to compete with video games, this one was able to and it encouraged physical active play. Overall I was impressed with the toy.

M8, M10, and the numerous other M10s that have come by to use this toy have given rave reviews. The kids that tried out this toy use various nerf toys regularly and they all rated this as one of their top two or three EVER. I think the look of this toy is what had them most excited. It is very different than other nerf products they have tried - the huge drum with room for 24 darts and the strap to sling it on their shoulder are the two features they really talk about. They like the strap because of the cool factor, but really helps them balance it and be able to play with this larger toy easily. They are having much longer play nerf battle sessions with the Nerf Mega Mastodon Blaster in the rotation. I am impressed with how much play it has had with no problems - there is the odd stuck dart, but it comes out very easily from a large jam clearing door on the side. M10 was giddy beyond belief when he saw the box and put the toy together right away, following the directions. It turns out he did not quite push the drum in far enough, so after a few minutes of playing the darts were getting stuck. Pulling it apart to push it back together more firmly was required - it kind of felt like this was going to break the plastic but (internet to the rescue, apparently this happens to others and it won't break) we pulled apart, put it back together with an adult click and no problem. After we put the box away we noticed there was a little add on slip in the bottom of the box saying to have an adult put it together! Since putting it together it has had busy play with 4 boys and we have not had any problems at all. I like that it is not as powerful as I had expected. The first few play sessions I only let them use it outside - the appearance gives the impression the darts are going to go faster and farther. They do go far! Shoot across the backyard, but is not going to take an eye out with it's power :) I am not a huge fan of gun like toys so I appreciate that nerf continues to design and colour their products to look like toys first, not battle gear. As for safety, my kids use these toys using safety goggles, but I might be a bit overprotective. Play has only tapered off recently because most of the darts have been shot over a fence or lost in a tree due to frequent use, although more darts can be purchased separately. It had heavy use for sure. I think they were all comfortable with it. We had a seven year old try it out without a problem but he did need the strap to help keep it steady. For the older kids the strap is more for the cool factor rather than helping to hold it up. For the amount of use I am very impressed we have had no issues with cracking, etc. There is a little trap door to easily open and grab any darts that have become jammed but it has not been used much, and at no point has adult help been required beyond putting it together. It is pricier than other nerf toys on the market but it is very well used by every kid who has tried it out. The kids playing with it all agreed this is one of the best if not the best big nerf toy that they have tried.
