EDITOR'S REVIEW

The jumbo-size tiles in this set - four of each letter, each one a different pattern - are a great tool for all sorts of matching games. The instruction guide suggests several games, but you can also think up your own games and activities, too. [Please share your ideas in the comment section below.] Note that the letter sets in this game don't have a much word-making distribution (extra vowels and common letters) which limits you to creating simple words. Some of our testeers plyed teh suggested games, but most just enjoyed using teh tiles to create their own words.

WHAT THE KIDS SAY

This was a fun game to practise spelling. I showed my mom how to spell "unicorn" which is a pretty big word! It's neat that you can spell words without even using paper.

I didn't like playing this game. It was too boring because you can only make small words.

I really like this game because I get to play with mom and dad and we pretend I am the teacher and I have to spell the word and mom and dad have to copy me. I like it because i already am practicing to spell and I am learning more. This is funner than spelling the words on paper. I like using the small blocks and we have lots of them to use. I like the pear shape. That is neat.

WHAT ADULTS THINK

I reviewed this game with my seven-year-old daughter and I thought it was great. She just finished grade 1 and is a very avid reader and speller. Making words in "pairs" is a great idea - although the game quickly expanded to just general spelling of many different words. During subsequent play, I would challenge my daughter to spell specific words and she enjoyed proving her abilities.

I love the packaging, and the educational value of this game, but my kids (F9, M7, M6) love challenging themselves with long words and found that they couldn't do that in this game.

I think this toy is great. My daughter enjoys spelling new words. This toy requires an adult to play with your child otherwise the full potential of the toy is lost. It is very appropriate for 5 year olds.

It is like a new twist on playing my all time favorite scrabble. It is so easy to play my kids love it. It is educational too all at the same time.  The size of the letters is good and easy to handle with the kids. This was a big hit in our family.
