WHAT THE KIDS SAY
I like how the pieces connect together and that when you were done, you could test your puzzle with the car to see if it worked. The car going on the track worked really well - it never hit a bump or fell off when you put the puzzle together. You could also tell if you got the puzzle wrong if the car doesn't fall all the way to the bottom. It was nice that the pieces were different colours and had dots on them so you could easily figure out which piece is which. I also iked that you could make your own roller coasters outside of the puzzles they provided. One of the pieces broke when I was trying to put it together to solve the puzzle. The connector part broke off in the other piece it was connected to. It was part of the upside down loop. This happened the first time I tried to use the loop. The loop is still kind of usable since it can be held in place with the bottom holder piece.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
Both kids (8 and 11) enjoyed this was a fun challenge toy. The pieces fit well together and it was alot of fun to test out your roller coaster with the little car to see how it worked. You could also use the pieces to invent your own roller coasters. The puzzles started off quite easy, but by the end included lots of pieces. This set was not as challenging as other puzzle sets but it was alot of fun. Sometimes the small pink pieces would curve up preventing the roller coaster from going to the bottom even though the puzzle solution was correct. Our set also had an issue in that the loop broke on the first time we tried to put it together so it did limit us with what puzzles we could do and what roller coasters we could invent. With loop broken and having tried most of the challenges, the kids did lose interest. I think if you are looking for a pure puzzle challenge, then there are other options out there, but if you are looking for an open ended, fun to use, roller coaster making toy then this is a great one. I liked that there are even more puzzle options online available.
Thrill Ride Building Game. In this thrilling engineering challenge, players get to build their very own roller coasters. Start by choosing a challenge card and setting up the pieces to match. Then, players use the remaining pieces to build a working roller coaster that meets the build conditions on their challenge card. Roller Coaster Challenge incorporates elements of a logic puzzle, while also allowing for the creativity that stems from free-form building. Once you have solved each challenge, you get to watch a real coaster car glide down the track, complete with dips, curves, and loops!
