All our testing familes thought the cost of this toy was a little too expensive. But this rocking Elmo certainly does have very high initial appeal, and that appeal was maintained throughout the testing period in some homes. However, other parents reported that their kids did loose interest after a few play sessions.
WHAT THE KIDS SAY
I like the way he sings. It was funny how he could sing to the other instruments.
I love playing with Elmo, listening to him sing and I enjoy dancing to his songs. I think it's super cool you can sing along with Elmo with the microphone.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
It only took a day for my 18mth old daughter to say Elmo's name and know all the accessories (drums, tambourine, microphone, guitar and keyboard) that go with him. At first she would bring all his instruments to him and would ask me to put things in his hands. But after a few days, she lost interest in the instruments and just played with the doll. After a few weeks, she still loves the Elmo doll and carries him around everywhere. It would be great if there was a volume control on the doll and all instruments as they are really loud. Also, I find that it takes several minutes and a few tries until the instrument and Elmo sync together for the song. I think this is a little advanced for a 18mth old. The price of this toy is pretty expensive if you consider buying all other accessories. Also, with Elmo and all the instruments, it does take quite a lot of space in the toy box. Overall, the doll is a great hit with my 18mth old, instruments aside.
A very interactive toy but a little advance for 18 month old.
As with many Elmo dolls, this one talks, sings, and sort of dances. As an added bonus this one also plays instruments and recognizes instruments from the Let's Rock Elmo toy line, and subsequently sings along with them. It is a neat toy, but quite expensive, especially if purchasing the other instruments in this line with the Elmo doll. Even with the "cool" factor, he and his instruments couldn't hold the attention span of my three kids (2, 4 and 7) for more than a handful of play sessions before they got bored.
It is interesting to see a toy that is able to identify if it has a drum, a microphone or tamboureen/cymbals. It's also great to see how it can interact with other toys. It definately kept my 18 month old and 5 1/2 yr old elmo fans entertained.
Coming this September...It’s music time! Rock out with LET’S ROCK Elmo! Dressed in a concert-style tee, Elmo takes the stage singing and making music - and preschoolers can too! Elmo comes with his very own microphone and two instruments – a tambourine and a drum set. Preschoolers can choose which instrument Elmo plays, and he "magically" recognizes which one you give him. Kids can also play along on Elmo’s instruments - they’re perfectly sized for little hands! For even more rockin’ fun, Elmo also interacts with other LET’S ROCK instruments (each sold separately); he knows when you’re playing the LET’S ROCK Guitar, Keyboard or Microphone and plays along with you! The LET’S ROCK Elmo toy sings six rockin’ songs, so grab an instrument and join Elmo’s band!
Figure comes with microphone, tambourine, drums and instructions.
