The coolest thing about this game is the cupcake-shaped sprinkle shaker. Filled with 32 tiny wooden shapes, a quick shake releases a scattering of the colourful little shapes, which players match to cupcake cards. Complete a card and it's yours to keep. The game is a traditional colour/shape matching activity, but the sprinkler is a clever new way to make the matches - fun and unique enough to make this game really stand out. Note: Not every shake will dislodge sprinkles - not getting a sprinkle is part of the game, especially towards the end of the game when fortunes can change quickly.
WHAT THE KIDS SAY
I like it because it is complicated. It's not hard, you just have to listen carefully during the instructions but once you now the rules it's good. I like the David and Goliath rule - it means all the regular rules don't count and the smallest guy on the whole board can catch the biggest guy on the whole board.
WHAT ADULTS THINK
Great game. My kids loved it. The concept was cute and original. The colours were bright and appealing. The game box is well made, easy to store, and small. The rules were easy to follow and the game was fun. My only suggestion would be to have the cards have indents for the shapes, instead of just the shape so when you move them, the pieces don't fall all over.
We love this little game and play it more than any of our other games. My 2 and 5 year old can play peacefully together with me. The playing time is just right. It is a bit too easy for my 5 year old, but the element of luck keeps everyone happy. We all wish the sprinkles stayed on the cupcake cards better.
An excellent game, providing educational skills. very simple and easy for the kids to enjoy.
A batch of yummy cupcakes is fresh out of the oven and it's time to decorate! Shake the sprinkle shaker and see what colorful shapes pour out. If any match a cupcake, add them to the card. Collect the most cards and winning is a piece of cake! We don’t know who invented the cupcake, but whoever it was surely deserves a culinary gold medal. The idea of a personal-sized portion of scrumptious cake topped with rich frosting and colorful toppings is genius – pure and simple. Speaking of pure and simple, Take the Cake is a simple game that’s pure fun! As you shake the shaker, you’ll hone fine motor skills, as well as shape and color recognition. For a double treat, whip up a batch of real cupcakes and play this game while you’re waiting for them to bake!
