WHAT THE KIDS SAY
the words are in English, but mommy helped me to sound them out. I found some that were the same in French, and I liked those words the best.
I like playing this game, it's a "calm" game, not too exciting just relaxing... well unless I get in an argument if Mia tells me that my wood piece moved when I know it didn't. I like the way the sticks are smooth.
It's really fun to try an d pick the sticks and not make the others move. It's very hard sometimes! I can't the words because they are in English except for " plant" that one is in French
WHAT ADULTS THINK
This is definately a good game, however it was challenging at times as my son does his schooling in French, so we had to find alternate ways to play the game. It did help him with word identification (in English) and we have seen an improvement in his "english" since we started playing the game. I like the idea that it's a new version of the traditional "pick up sticks" and it has the 'environmentally friendly' aspect of it (as it's done in wood) however, we did find the game to be a constant reminder of "careful with the sticks" as we were worried that they would break (boys will be boys) however nothing did break.
Because of the environmentally friendly way it is made , I like this game better than the regular plastic pick up sticks.
It’s Pick Up Sticks with a reading twist! Woodsy Words enhances reading skills with simple game play simply hold all the sticks in one hand and let them fall onto a flat surface. Select one stick - if you can extract it without moving any of the others, read the word printed on it and select another stick. Continue play until you bump another stick or get stuck on a word. The player with the most sticks at the end of the game wins! Put them back and start again or try to use all your words in a sentence!

This game is Earth Friendly! It's printed with vegetable-based ink on recycled paper and board.
